Scam alert

Medicare counseling is always free. Plans may send mail, but unless you're already a member, they can't call, email, come to your home or approach you in public to sell you a plan without your permission. Guard your Medicare number like your Social Security number. If someone calls asking for it, hang up and call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
